Digital Memorial is a critical reaction to the modern custom of lighting virtual candles at the push of a button on the social networks and on public screen. Avishag’s Video-Art is enveloped in humor and the absurd. She employs simple representations, icons, which are easily recognized from our daily lives, and also shows the palms of the hands simulating the candles’ flame. Her work makes fun of the observer, who sees one things from a distance but as the viewer draws nearer a surprising and mischievous sight emerges.
